About Me and My Practice

A psychoanalyst and licensed clinical social worker, I’ve been practicing therapy since 1996. In addition to my private practice, I have years of experience in helping people in community mental health, with individuals, couples and families. I have a certification in psychoanalysis from the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy (ICP). I’ve been trained in EMDR, and a variety of modalities in working with couples and family members. I also contribute to the profession by teaching other therapists/analysts-intraining on the subjects of ‘Relational psychoanalysis’ as well as “Active Listening’ in a variety of doctoral and psychoanalytic programs. In addition, I supervise numbers of therapists, as well as contributing to writing of research and clinical articles in scientific journals.

In addition, I have worked for many years in LGBTQ+ communities, and take pride in offering a very affirmative, nonjudgmental and sex-positive space, to talk about Queer identities and sexualities. I specialize in: gay men, lesbians and bisexuals, gender identity, transgender, & non-binary clients, HIV-related issues, family, friends and significant others, substance abuse issues, sex workers, coming out, and transitioning.

I work well with a spectrum of typical issues including:

  • Anxiety
  • Family Dynamics
  • Depression
  • Life Transitions
  • Self-Esteem
  • Body image and mind-body pain
  • Shame and Guilt
  • Dissatisfaction with Work
  • Trauma
  • Feeling ‘stuck’ in Life
  • Couples and Relationships
